the captions

In my last post I was only able to put up pictures because I was having a hard time downloading. So now I will explain them here:

Pic #1 Me walking with Charis in the village setting. We are now living more in town but for over a month we were living in a village within Usa town. Women always wear skirts or "kangas" which are both traditional and keep up the modesty appearance. Whenever we travel to a different area we always want to be respectful of our surroundings. The girl interns and I made sure we wore the same as the village women when we were not inside our own homes.

Pic #2 My friend Blair came to visit! It was so exciting to have our first visitor from Tucker Swamp Baptist church in Virginia. Blair was such a blessing to me during this in-between- home- season. Several times Jason had to travel back to our home in Kenya and Blair was there to help me with my children as we stayed in Tanzania. Blair took time out everyday to teach Righteous and Nevaeh the sounds of their letters and even how to write Righty's name. Whenever Blair was working with them Nevaeh would not call her anything else but Teacher.

Pic#3 This is Mount Meru which we can see in the distance from where we were staying and even where we are presently staying. Right now there is snow on the caps which is as close too the white Christmas as we are going to get.

Pic#4 and #5 are pictures of some of the people we met in the village. Righteous and Nevaeh have picked up so much more Swahili since we have been here. English is not as common at all as it is in Kenya which forces you to use what Swahili you know and then learn more. The 5th picture is a confirmation Sunday at the Lutheran church we had attended. The girls were dressed up to look like brides.

Pic #6, #7, and #8 "Here we go round the mulberry bush..." There were a few trees right where we were staying that were the perfect time for picking.
