The Wittz End: Wanting to be like Daniel

River water is still incredibly low so this continues to be the current situation to get water into the farm.

The level of the Tana River is in this region remains down- it is at an ultimate low that has never been seen before according to the older people who have lived next to it their whole lives. Each day the small pump gets pumped into the pipes around 9am and then it fills a section to where the big pump can pump water to the farm by 10am- it uses up all that water in 25 minutes and then the big pump needs to be turned off until that section fills up with water again. All in all water gets pumped into the farm 5 to 6 times a day and when it's running all the workers are trying to make sure the water gets to to all the crops by shoveling out canals. This process is very physically demanding but is getting the job done. One day Jason organized for pizza to be brought to the farm as a thank you to everyone for working hard. The ladies at the farm were telling me that Jason is such a good boss to get them pizza and they all think pizza is delicious. I'm pretty sure they were trying to get me to convince the boss to have pizza delivered more often.

"Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom" Daniel 6:3 Grace is translating for me- you can see her all the way to the left.

Our 3 younger daughters and Abbigail and I were able to act out the story of Daniel in the lions den at a local school Grace and Amos started decades ago. I am so grateful they allowed us this opportunity and thankful for Grace translating for me. Daniel stands out to me for his godly character that set him apart from all others. Because of this others were jealous of him and felt threatened by him. "The administrators and satraps tried to find grounds of charges against Daniel and his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because He was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. Finally these men said, "We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of His God."

I want our family and team to strive to be "distinguished" and have "exceptional qualities" like Daniel had. That if there is a "decree" or worldy standard that goes against God/the Holy Bible that we will seek God to know what to do, how to act, what to say. As we interact with people who have a different faith, would they take notice of God's saving grace that has transformed our lives. I pray that those in our "sphere of influence " would see the one true God at work in us and have their own realization like King Darius had when he witnessed that "God sent His angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions." Daniel 6:21

In the end of chapter 6 King Darius issued a decree throughout his kingdom that " people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. " verse 26. Because King Darius said,

"For He is the living God,

And He endures forever;

His Kingdom will not be destroyed,

His dominions will never end.

He rescues and He saves;

He performs signs and wonders

In the heavensand on the earth.

He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions" verses 26-27

As believers we should be bold about our love for the Lord. People will notice that we don't compromise our values and I pray this will be attractive. We pray that farm workers, shop owners, teachers, and all people will want to believe in the Lord Jesus and be saved.
