Starting off the New Year seeing God's provision and protection

We took turns using a rusty screwdriver to get batteries inside toys.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! I think we had a good balance of doing  ministry and having family time, often combining the two. A few days after the big Christmas outreach we went to the farm. Jason bought many packages of batteries because he knew a lot of the Christmas toys would need them in order to work. Sure enough village kids kept bringing their remote control cars and toy cameras that produced bubbles for us to put batteries inside. It was so fun to watch the delight on their faces when things would light up, make noise, and move around.
On New Years Eve we played games at one of our team members houses and ate yummy appetizers that everyone brought. I did not make it to midnight but the Witt girls did.

Already we stand in awe of God's provision and protection in this New Year. When our family was taking the 6 hour drive to Nairobi our vehicle's tire had a blow out and was completely destroyed. We pulled over to the side of the road and minutes later another car pulled over to help. Jason recognized the driver as a friend that was involved in a stressful legal battle years ago. This friend had accidentally injured a "crazy man" in Gtown and the family was trying to get as much money as possible to take advantage of the situation. Jason assisted in bringing peace to the matter, that was also fair, for both sides. Now the same man that had this legal matter settled was showing us kindness by stopping to make sure we were okay in our time of need and even followed behind us, once we were on the road, to make sure all was well.
In Nairobi we got to take Righteous souvenir shopping because she wanted to bring back gifts from Kenya to her teachers and classmates. We also got to go watch the new Avatar movie in the theater. Then with a blink of the eye it was time to say goodbye. I found it just as hard as before to give the last hug to Righteous and see her off. I hold onto God's peace that He is with her and has a plan for her life. Once we arrived back home in Gtown. Jason got messages that a former farmworker got hit by a lorry while he was on a motorbike and things were very bad. Jason immediately unpacked the car and headed to the hospital, bracing himself. When he got there @l! (Former farmworker), was sitting up alert. He had many stitches on his face and his jaw was broken but there was no internal bleeding or any other broken bones. It really could/should have been so much worse, God truly protected him. Jason, Amos, and interns had done many Bible studies with this man years ago. This same man took a second wife (although Muslims have a religious right to take 4 wives we have taken a stand that no more wives should be taken while employed at the farm) and also was the nightguard when 60 goats went missing so his job was terminated. Everyone knows that Jason loves this man very much. It was such a hard decision to fire him but had to make the statement that there are consequences to actions. Jason was able to pray for him at the hospital and we continue to pray that God would use this to heal and restore relationships. God gives so many chances for people to receive His grace and know of His great sacrifice for them. We look forward to being apart of God's kingdom this coming year, ready to serve and be used by Him.
Jason bought lots batteries to get the job done

First to enter the pool- about 15 more joined us in the ladies only pool.

Tire blew out on our drive to Nairobi.

Thank you Paul Kary for taking our picture in your beautiful compound.

It was Jason's idea to buy these jerseys and get pictures taken.

Such a gift to have time as a family of 6 during Christmas break.

The classic goofy pic.
