Mobassa 2, Fort Jesus

We got to visit Fort Jesus which was built by the Portuguese and then taken over by the Arabs. The Fort is in a shape of a man with two arms, the main body and then two legs. Our tour guide just briefly mentioned that slaves were kept there and Britain eventually freed the slaves. Jason was surprised that nothing more was said about this even though we walked through some dark areas that looked like prison cells. When Jason was in Ghana they went to a place in Acra (he thinks it is called Cape Coast) where they talked all about what the slaves went through. I always want to hear the truth about history even if it about faults of Christianity doing horrible things that is actually against biblical principles. Too often the church is trying to cover up sin which only allows everyone to conitnue in it. Jason and I and 3 other families are together making decisons for the private school that is here. It has been put on Jaco's heart that we are to have a standard of holiness. This has challenged us to examine our own lives and then the teachers and other people that work for the school. It has been a trying few weeks as we have to let go people that are not wanting to have good work ethics (stealing, refusing to do their job, etc). God is merciful, but is Just also and too often we expect only the first from Him.
