Safe in Kenya

After 1 full day of traveling JFK, NY to Heathrow London, then London to Nairobi we and all of our 15 pieces of luggage have made it safe and sound. After explaining the situation to the airport in NY we were even able to bring the 75 pound water pump with only paying 60$ in overweight fees. We are believing that this water pump will be able to transfer the water from the Tana River onto the land we are using for the agriculture project. This will help train and provide family with the means to grow their own crops, which will feed themselves and even allow them to sell and make a profit.

The flight went well and I know it was because of everyone's prayers for us during this time. We had a two hour layover in London and they found this ceiling support pole to play with while we waited. This morning we all slept in until 11am. Our first meal was Ugali and Skuma. I gained 20 pound in America and went up 3 pants sizes. On this first full day of being in Kenya only 1 person commented on how fat I have gotten- but I know more to come once we arrive at our home. We will be staying in Nairobi for a few days as we adjust and look for a new vehicle for me. Jason will head to G-town on Sunday to get the house in order with fresh fruit+veggies as well as bread and milk so that we can come home to a house full of food. We are really looking forward to going home.

During our last week in the States we got to be with all my relatives on my mom's side all of her 7 siblings got together for a mini reunion. The oldest sibling and her husband celebrated their 40 wedding anniversary and we all got to celebrate this occasion as they rededicated their love for one another.Four days before we left Long Island got hit by Hurricane Irene which turned out to be a tropical storm. We lost electricity during those four days and believe it could be the Lord'sway of preparing us ahead of time to coming back here to Kenya. We were able to grill a lot of meat on the days without electricity and even scramble some eggs. We played a lot of games with my family and talked into the night by candlelight. We miss those we had to say goodbye too but look ahead to what God has here in Kenya, Africa.

I don't think you could ever be considered fat! I think you looked beautiful! Miss you already!

lol about the fat comments. :) ah, the random mama getting on the matatu telling me how big I was as she lugged herself and her huge bag of produce on board and practically sat in my lap. :) good memories.
seriously though, we really miss you but are so excited to hear about your new adventures as you re-adjust and meet your friends again. horray about the water pump! that sounds very exciting.
God bless!
