Keri's Blog Update

Henna

Despite our best efforts to figure out our own futures, only God fully knows what lies ahead. Even once everything was worked out for us to come to Kenya, we were still unaware of His great plans. We left it all in his hands and prayed for the best. Every day this week, we’ve been given opportunities to view a new culture up close. Though we have been given advice before most encounters, it is difficult to fully understand something until it has been experienced. From this week alone we’ve all learned many things as we were brought out of our comfort zones. As we come up on a new week, I’m excited to see what God has in store.
On Saturday, Rebekah took all of the ladies into town for henna tattoos. We went into a home where she mixed the dyes and drew the designs free hand on our hands and feet

The designs dried black and was filled in with another dye that dried orange

Friday we were invited into someone’s home in the village, a new experience even to Bekah. We were able to see them prepare the meal, which included a freshly slaughtered chicken, whose head we passed upon entering their home.

We ate on mats in the courtyard and were soon joined by the chickens that eventually ran through our food.

There is no substitute for experiencing these things yourself, is there? I'm excited for you, & pray you will sense God's heart for those you are among.
