So often we seem to grow tired or
become bored with the normality of everyday life. Even if that’s not the case,
we surely don’t feel like anyone else would be interested in hearing about or
seeing the things that we do on a daily basis. Somehow we find it more
interesting when something different or new takes place and think to ourselves “I
can’t wait to share what happened today!” While new experiences and opportunities
certainly are exciting and worth sharing, I’ve been reminded and awakened to
the reality that the “everyday norm.” is just as beautiful and even more worthy
of our attention, excitement and affection. It’s kind of crazy how when we’re
away from the “normal” for any length of time, it’s in fact the very thing we
miss and long for the most!
Coming to Kenya to partner with the
Witts has been amazing! We’ve had the privilege to do and experience many new
and exciting things, in which I’m so grateful! You’ve heard and seen from the
other teammates many of these things, but the thing that has impacted me the most,
isn’t a new and amazing culture or the many valuable opportunities to serve at
the farm or in the schools. Rather the most impactful and amazing part of this
opportunity, is to see and realize that this lifestyle and way of living is the
“beautiful normal” for the Witts and should be for us! God has called us all to
full time ministry (not just the Pauls of ministry) and that’s carried out,
more often than not, in the everyday workings of life………and here in G-town
through this amazing family, it’s absolutely beautiful, inspiring and God
exalting!
So, I encourage you, just as I’m
encouraged, to keep loving, seeking and serving God today. Realize that excitement,
meaning, and satisfaction isn’t about that one time or that one trip, but
rather about a daily love, pursuit, faithfulness, and obedience to Christ!
Although this kind of life will indeed lead to amazing new opportunities like
this one, it will also help us to realize that “normal” never looked so
beautiful! May we live with urgency for His glory today, because that’s what we’ve
been promised….today………and it is good!

I also feel challenged to live my 'normal' more intentionally for God's purpose after being away, & after being with those 'on the field', so-to-speak.
