Traveling to the Coast

These are posters to vote for the governor in Kilifi.

Buying honey on the side of the road. There are dead bees inside!

In the distance salt is being made alongside the ocean.

A salt mound.

Students going home for lunch and then return to school after.

These thatched rooves are very common.

Mosques were freshly painted for Ramadan.

These small vehicles are called Tuk Tuks and are very convenient to travel around in.

The talented Momma carrying things on her head.

We had a little over a week at the Coast. We had a wonderful time seeing our team mates that live in Mombasa. One of the families are getting ready to add a son to there family. We are excited for this new addition! The mother of the expectant mother has come from America to be here for this special occasion. She is such a special lady in my own life. She not only is a prayer warrior when trials in life occur but she is an excellent question asker. She asked me, "How do you decide which need to give to?" That is really hard to answer. The needs can be numerous and indeed genuine. Where does one even Start? We definitely need to rely on the Holy Spirit's prompting and guidance. Often He has lead us to give to a person who is "undeserving " whereas no gratitude is given in return. We need to be quick to listen to that quiet voice inside.

We also got to visit the newest teammates who arrived this past January as a family of 7. They had been raising support for 4 years before coming. They truly know about perseverance and not giving up the calling they have on their lives. They opened up their beautiful home for us and even gave us their master bedroom. Their children are also homeschooled and it was an instant bond with our girls. I wish we had planned more time to spend with these two families.

We got to have a few days of fun in the sun after our time in Mombasa. In gtown we have the sand, we have the heat, but no ocean to go with it. I stand in awe and wonder, of God’s creation, when I get the chance to be quiet and listen to the waves wash up along the shore. I am so grateful for the time we had and even for the opportunity to make new friends at the Indian Ocean.
Another freshly painted Mosque.
