Building the Earthly and Hopefully the Heavenly!

Nevaeh is eating a fruit cup. Fruit cups have, banana, watermelon, mango, pineapple and avacado.

We have a huge praise report to give! Thanks to God! There is a home building company in the Texas that gave a grant to build 12 houses! We remember years ago, when farm workers first made the request to have a house built for them and their families. They desired the money for the initial start up because they would never be able to save enough funds to do so on their own. Every time they turn around there seems to be something that drains all their money, and although they get a salary each month, that is always immediately spent on food, hospital bills, school fees, or to pay off a debt that amounts from living life.

The girls and I (Bekah) Went with Jason (along with Paul and Ashley) to the farm recently to see the foundation for Idr!$ house being dug. We usually stop at Total (a gas/petrol station) to fill up our truck with Diesel and stock up on drinking water. While we did this we got to buy boiled eggs with kachumbari and a fruit cup from the side of the road. We have to eat the fruit fast so that we can return the plastic container -it will get washed and reused.

When we drove to the location where the house is being be built we could see that there were other villagers hired for the task. These men who were hired per day worked side by side with the farm workers and everyone seemed light hearted. They were exchanging jokes and overall seemed really united to get the job accomplished. A normal day for workers at the farm consists of planting, watering, and harvesting. They are usually spread out in different areas and only come together to eat lunch. With house building, everyone is together all day long. It is also changes up the mundane of a normal "farm day".

It is interesting to observe the "young/secret" believers interact with the others farm workers. As they consistently come to read the Bible each week, God is sanctifying them and refining them. God has created them to be leaders in the village- each in a unique way. One of them already has a manager position because of his natural way to delegate and can be counted on to step up and do whatever is needed. One has a loud voice in which he cannot be ignored. And the last has a steady unwavering personality. We continue to pray they will share about Jesus with their wives and children and neighbors. Jason has come home, after these house building days, telling us some wild stories. One of the farm workers made the statement that Adam and Eve were born  Muslims. Jason got to explain about Mohammed coming to earth around 600 years after Jesus and if the Quran was given to Mohammed who gave it to the people- then Islam didn't exist before this. If only people could use their common sense! What we have seen though, is that people can be deeply deceived and not convinced by simple common logic. During these conversations the young/secret believers are listening intently. One day they might participate in  these discussions. I know if that time comes they will be equipped to talk to the Muslim people with more understanding than we ever could. For they all have the same upbringing and  grew up hearing the same doctrine from the Mosque in their village. Their personal testimonies are powerful and can be relatable. Although we are ready for this to happen right now we can trust the when and ifs to happen in the Lord's timing.

On the day the slab is poured Jason cooks a meat stew for everyone who has been building the house. Charis is chopping vegetables for the stew.
