Rejoice the tomb is empty!

" But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed." Isaiah 53:5

Last weekend we celebrated Easter and read through scripture of all Jesus did leading up to His death and resurrection. Our Danish family friends once again came from Nairobi to join us, which was such a blessing for all of us including our daughters- getting to spend time with fellow third culture kids they have known throughout the years. On Good Friday we went through "Journey of the Cross" Reading from the Bible and doing action steps that related to what was read. We worshipped, had communion and ended the evening eating grilled chicken, baked potatoes and green beans. I don't only want to find significance of the cross this time of year but instead each and every day want to reflect.

Man of Sorrows

Oh, that rugged cross, my salvation
Where Your love poured out over me
Now my soul cries out, "Halelujah"
"Praise and honor unto thee"

Now my debt is paid
It is paid in full
By the precious blood
That my Jesus spilled
Now the curse of sin
Has no hold on me
Whom the Son set free
Oh, is free indeed.
Charis and Samara writing their names that they are forgiven.
Everyone's names stuck on the cross.
Reading scriptures about the Garden of Gethsemane outside. It was so nice to meet JP's Dad, who came to visit them.
Girls had such a special time spending time with fellow third culture kids.

I am such a "visual learner" and therefore love bringing props to provide a visual component. Here is a prayer chart with envelopes for Praise, Confession (Sorry), Thanks, and Requests (Help)

On the first Saturday of the month missionaries in this area come together to pray for one another, hear a message and then eat lunch. We all take turns leading the session and last Saturday Jason and I were teamed up as a dynamic duo. I don't take it for granted that we both have a calling and there are opportunities for us to serve the Lord side by side. I was in charge of facilitating the Introductions and prayer requests. Jason gave the message which had 3 main points. (He was inspired to do this message by a similar message he had listened to from Dick Brogden)1) Our love for Jesus needs to our foundation and the motivation for all we do. 2) Preach the Gospel by Scatter seeds to everyone- not just those open that we feel like deserve it or are ready 3) Die and be forgotten- we are not here to build our own kingdoms. One day we will all die and our desire should be that Jesus name goes on and not our own. In the room full of like minded people it is always humbling to know the sacrifices they face to make His name known. It is a great encouragement seeing each other every month, we are not alone.
Me looking on my man giving the message. Thank you Anders for the photo.

The last few moments of this beautiful goat.

On the Monday after Easter Jason invited all the workers from the construction site, to our home. A goat was slaughtered and cooked up to be eaten. Everyone had their fill and were satisfied. Even though our primary purpose of living here is to reach out to those with a different faith than our own we still always want to show kindness that shows all people are important and valued by God. Jason cooking for these men provided a good time for all and there has been more of a light hearted appreciation on the job site since.
Our dog Apollo enjoyed chewing on the goat leg.

Jason bringing the pot of meat to the serving area.

All the men gathered to eat under the shade of the trees in our compound.
