Nevaeh's last month in Kenya

Nevaeh has grown to love, laugh, and enjoy life with these girls in the scholarship program- looks forward to seeing them on the school holidays.

For these past few weeks we really tried to be intentional helping Nevaeh process that she needs to say her goodbyes and close up this chapter of her life being with us in Kenya. She went to the farm for her last time- seeing the condition of the river, attended the tutoring class for the high-school scholarship program and took lots of photos with the students. As a family we were invited to our first wedding in the village. We got to dance with the ladies and eat in one of the first houses that were built for the farmworkers.

Me (Bekah) and Samara celebrated our birthdays and had a joint party- everyone did different acts for a talent show.  I soaked it all up appreciating every song and dance Nevaeh was a part of, knowing next year she won't be around.

We did one last visit to the clinic, Nevaeh getting a full hemogram done as well as a stoole analysis. I am happy to report she has a clean bill of health- no worms or ameobas this time around.

There was one last cooking class of chicken Tikka and chips. Our cooking teacher had just returned from the small hadj in Mecca and gave gifts to all of us. An Arab friend asked Nevaeh what her favorite meal is- which is Biriyani,  and invited us over to eat it for our last lunch in Gtown. She had also invited her Mom and Mother in law so they could wish us safe travels which was so sweet and special.

We got to go to a local school that Nevaeh has volunteered at with interns throughout the years and acted out Bible stories at. We gave an introduction to baseball and the students practiced hitting the ball with a bat and putting their hand in a baseball mit for their first time. After this, some little girls gave Nevaeh a handwritten goodbye letter that had the whole class names signed and wrote "Don't forget us, we will not forget you".

Nevaeh was born in Kenya and since that day has been raised here. There were definitely times she battled through the emotions of wanting to have the "normal life of growing up in America ". I am so proud of her for pushing through and developing a love for the people. She has a relationship with Jesus that's all her own and it's so beautiful. I am simply not ready for her to let her go. But I will.

I am so grateful that we are going to have the entire summer as the 6 Witts back together again. Next week on Wednesday we are driving up to Ethnos360 Bble Institute (in Waukesha, Wisconsin) to see Righteous! Nevaeh has finally decided what college to go to and it is to join Righteous. Nevaeh is only committing to 1 year with the possibility to transfer to another college and get her bachelor's degree. She has time to figure that out while she adjuststs to living in the USA with her older sister there to guide her.

We fly out of Kenya Sunday night May 10th and will arrive in Minnesota on May 11th. Please pray for a smooth flight, Charis and I get anxious on planes. We can't wait to see all our family members and loved ones. We are planning to travel around to different States until we drop off Righteous and Nevaeh at college. Can you pray that we will enjoy eachothers company and focus on all the new memories we will make instead of being sad that we will have to say goodbye in August. We will be Stateside until September 30th so please reach out if you want to see us!

We got invited to our first wedding in the village. The girls are with the Bride- who just graduated from the Scholarship program last December.

It was too big of a portion for any of us to finish except for Jason.

The team held up signs congratulating Nevaeh for graduating, and Sarah organized to get this t-shirt made.
