People say the watch was made for the Western world but Africa has all the time. There truly is no hurry here in Africa. But we have lost so much time while being out especially when it comes to projects with goals and time lines. It can be difficult not being able to control your circumstances but also having a responsibility to do your best to do what you told the donor you would accomplish. Our farm for training in a near by village is going very well thanks to the favor of our God! Even during the time we were out my colleague and friend Harrison was able to continue moving the project forward. He has done an amazing job and I am glad to be back working beside him once again! Above is a picture of our 10,000 liter tank on its stand. (2600 gallons) We pump it from the river which is about 1600 feet away.
This the greenhouse that we hope to teach people with and also hope to yield fruits and vegetables to support the sustainability of the project. We will plant in it with in the next week of so! We are very excited we should yield with in 45 days of planting!
This is the beautiful little machine that gives the farm life. It is actually designed for firefighters is can push about 1000 gallons an hour. It has a 5 horse power Honda engine and a dual propeller pump made by Davey. It uses less than one gallon of fuel to push 3000 gallons of water. We hope to move to a more consistent cost efficient way of supplying water in the future but for times sake it have helped jump start us!
This is a papaya tree it is one of 100 that we have planted in the farm and should yield fruit within the year!
We have passion fruit on the farm too! They are a vine so need something to climb on. Last week together with my kids and the interns we made a passion vineyard we built a trellis for them to climb out of wire and a few metal posts. It is currently working great and the vines have begun climbing and become very big!
This is a passion fruit that has been in the ground for 8 weeks! Not bad huh???? Our plan is to teach people very simple and sustainable farming methods. We hope to teach people how to support their families and feed themselves using only a 50 by 50 plot of land. Using integrated agriculture. We just want to teach them how to use what they have and use it effectively. We also hope to train others who can imitate this project whether full scale or small scale in order to reach the least reached!God is so good to us in allowing us to be a part of reaching the least reached here in our area! We hope that this farm can be a beacon of light in a dark place and that people will know it is blessed by the true living God and through that they will come into fellowship with him.
Its so good to be home again, but looking back at the roller coaster of moving I can see His hand and His providence and goodness. Father thank you for always taking care of us may we never become ungrateful, and may we always trust you!
