Down on the Farm Update

Hey friends and family I just wanted to give an update on how things are going on the farm. It's been so good to finally settle at home again and actually feel like we are making progress towards the goal! Praise Jesus! Things on the farm are going well we have had water there for about 5 months now and we have over 1000 trees planted. Bananas, oranges, passion fruits, moringa, bamboo, and papaya.

We hope to plant a few hundred more next week!

We also hope to train our first set of students on the farm by Jan so please be praying for us to be effective!

Outside of the  greenhouse drip irrigation kit.

We also have the greenhouse and outside drip beds that we are experimenting with. We are hoping the yields from these things can help improve the project sustainability and one day it can pay for itself to run!

We put a fence of chicken wire around it because rabbits and squirrels were feasting daily

We were also feasting on the rabbits to pay them back but that didn't really stop them so we put up the fence.

This is hybrid tomato seedling at 3 weeks old.

These tomatoes are a specific hybrid plant that produce earlier and longer than typical tomatoes they are now at day 40 and already have so many fruits.

This is Jay(one of our interns) planting a banana tree in a banana/papaya circle. in the center you build compost and water that so that all the nutrients from the composting goes straight to your plants increasing your yields. Harrison is directing traffic!

The banana circle is one of the methods we teach to locals to help improve their use of land and their green matter that gets discarded. Even the goat, cow and camel droppings are used! Everybody in the pool!

This is the drip irrigation system for the green house and the outside beds. We modified it because the original kit leaked a lot but now its great!

These are the drip tanks we use two separate so that one can always run water and the other we use to mix in liquid fertilizers organic ones! These drip kits really gave use a headache in the beginning but by the grace of God we managed to get all the kinks out by making our own piping system! The crazy part is we did not plan on doing that and we just ended up having all the right parts to make it happen! Praise God!

These are the tomatoes in the beds inside the green house at 4 weeks with Harrison.

Here is Harrison in his greenhouse he loves it in there he can spend so much time in there pruning and checking the plants! He has even started making his own organic fertilizer with the pruned materials and some liquid microbes! Man that stuff stinks it actually smells like old dirty diapers to me but hey its organic and the plants loves it!
