Nairobi for a week

We have been adjusting in Nairobi since we arrived back to Kenya on September 12. We are fully over jet lag- only took about 5 days total- where the kids would wake up in the middle of the night full of energy. They would stay awake from midnight  until 3am. The nice part of the whole ordeal is they would sleep in until noon the next day. Now we are all back to normal- sleeping through the nights and waking up at 6:30. Nairobi has some exciting changes. There is so much road construction that will really reduce traffic when it is all finished. I will try to put pictures up of all that in my next post. American Subway is coming at Junction mall HOORAY! There is very little selection of lunch meats here and what the do have is very expensive so even if we get to go to Subway once in several months- it will be a wonderful treat.

As we get ready to shift back home, we always make a huge shopping trip to the grocery store called Nakumatt. ( We get all the produce that we cannot find in G-town at a shop called Zucchinis) There is a new Nakumatt brand being offered now which reminds me a little of the Great Value brand from Walmart. You can find it all around the store in blue labels. We have been staying in a guesthouse which has a furnished kitchen so we have been buying groceries to cook meals while we are here for this week. The mascot of Nakumatt is an elephant and the kids really enjoy posing for pictures of the metal one you can find in front of all the stores.

I have found it quite natural to settle back in to Kenya. Some of the immediate differences are driving on the left side of the road, hanging up laundry, and night time being pitch black by 6:30 pm every day.

Jason and our Supervisors have already made a 3 day trip to our home town to do a security assessment. It has been such a praise report to hear that things have gone back to normal for the past 100 days- there has been no incidents! We are planning to head back with the whole family on Monday. Please be praying for a smooth transition for all of us.

SO relieved. The mall is a logical place for you to be as you get ready to settle back in. So, so, so, so glad you weren't there!
