there is so much to see!
In this picture I am looking through the garage and can see Jason on the other side. The garage holds quite a variety of items. There are mattresses there ready for those who want to camp. There is salt and seasonings for the many times Jason grills meat. There are all sorts of tools to fix things that break down. There are clothes that the workers where on their way to the farm and on their way home from it. There is fuel for the water pump. A tote that a rat made a nest inside.
Here is Jason picking off the seeds of amaranth a bunch of green leafy vegetables that he sells in town. The seeds can be used to re-plant. The girls are always eagerly looking for ways to help and they join in on the picking.
The girls helping.
Lots of seeds to re plant.
I glance over at the workers to see them washing up for prayer time. They set up a tarp on the ground and stand, kneel, and bow their heads to the ground.
Harvesting the leafy greens. Can you spot Jason in the group?
A little bit closer you can see Jason.
One of my favorite things to see is the sunflowers popping up randomly in different areas. We pick them when they are big and mature. Then we sprinkle salt on top of it and eat the seeds.
The seeds sure are good. A little softer than the ones you can buy in the store.
But the same effect of helping the time to go by- trying to break the shell with your teeth and then spit out the shell.
Unfortunately I did not get Charis centered but I did get her petals scattered on the ground. It reminded me of "he loves me, he loves me not"
Samara is my "bush child". She walks around in her white dress making mud cookies and doing her own thing.
Then when I get up close to her she strikes a pose.
In the distance is the goat house. Jason has made a quarantine ward for the sick goats. He calls it the tuberculosis ward- which we have in the hospitals here because there is often several cases of it at a time. We have loss 16 goats of the 107 but it looks like we are out of the woods.
It is rainy season. It is a blessing and an annoyance. It grows the crops and the weeds together. It can flood peoples homes. And flood the outhouses- which can bring a lot of sickness. It also increases flies which I am constantly hitting off my body as I write this blog. But all in all people having been waiting for the rains to come. It was later than usual this year. Most people plan there year around this rain- making sure they have seeds planted. So when it finally comes there is great thanksgiving!
