My brother's last day.

This was my brother's last day in Gtown. The farm workers had decided to contribute some of their money together in order to have a good bye party for him. This is a big deal in this community. This community is accustomed  to donations and aid from Non Government Organizations. Many feel entitled to receive food/clothing/money in the midst of their poverty. With this attitude of entitlement, that things are expected to be given to them, there is very little gratitude when people serve them and care for them. With all that being said, this was no light choice for the workers to bring their money for Tim. A few years ago I would have never even considered this to be a thing. God has been changing their hearts little by little and putting His love in them.
Our great friends, Amos and Grace and sons, gave my brother goodbye gifts. A hat, Kenyan bracelet, and shoes.
The horrible road to the farm has gotten so much worse. I got a picture of the vehicle in front of us locking the hubcaps in order to dig it's way out of the sand.

The farm workers slaughtered the goat.

The children have a new toy- goat legs.
We brought games to play while the meal was being prepared.

My girls are truly going to miss Uncle Tim. He played countless amounts of card games with them and impacted their lives with his patience and sense of humor. He is hilarious. He deeply loves children. God has gifted him in many ways.

It is a high honor to receive a chicken as a gift here in Kenya. Although Tim will be flying on a plane tomorrow and won't be able to take this chicken with him, he received it well.
Speeches were given to thank Tim for his hard work. The workers were amazed that he would do everything with them side by side. They told him they would like him to return and even build a house. They also prayed that he might come back and marry one of their local women. They asked him to give a few words. He told them that he knew he was coming to visit his family but never would have imagined he would be adding so many others to his family. He was so grateful for them because they welcomed him. He will truly be missed.

I've heard you never forget your first chicken.
